Last night was the best night of my entire life! I got to the House of Blues on Sunset at 6am and waited all day until the show started at 9pm! His show was just amazing. Miyavi's English has improved and he was talking a lot during the show. He also played old favorites of mine like Selfish Love, Please Please Please...and Jibun Kakumei! He even brought his adorably daughter Jewelie on stage an the audience sung Happy Birthday to her since yesterday was her 1st birthday. After the show my two friends and I who bought the VIP tickets lined up to meet him. The security guard who showed us where to sit kept telling us "no no sit HERE right HERE" then quietly said "this will be the front of the line, you WANT to stay HERE, okay?" and by god we were at the front. On the sort walk to meet him nerves were running high between my two friends and I. I had waited six long years to meet him and oh shit...I was about to.
When I waked up to him he greeted me with that all to familiar smile and asked if I had anything for him to sign. Unfourtanetly I didn't bring any of my posters or magazines with him on them, so I just took the posters they were giving out (because people bought a VIP ticket they got a free poster and guitar picks). He said he would personalize the poster for me and asked how to spell my name. I felt horrible because he was having trouble with it. He got the first letter "L" right, but when I said "I" for the next letter he wrote an "O" an I went "no no I" and he tried to fix it on the poster, but ended up pulling a new one out to personalize saying "it's okay, these posters only cost 50 cents". When he started to try and spell my name again I had to ask one of my friends there who is half Japanese (and speaks it) to spell my name out for him, but then Miyavi's wife who was standing next to him said "oh no it's okay let me help him" and I continued to spell my name out to his wife who told Miyavi in return the correct way to spell my name.
I also gave him two flower hair clips that I made for his daughters. I told him one was for Jewelie's birthday and I made another one for Lovelie because I know how kids get jealous. He said "oh thank you so much for making two, Lovelie gets really jealous sometimes of Jewelie". I then slipped him a purple envelop with a thank you note and pictures from my modeling portfolio (the thank you note also explained why I was giving him my pictures). It is one of my dreams to model in Japan an if he is able to possibly help me with my exposure, then why not at least try? I can lose nothing from it. And like Miyavi said on stage "thank you for supporting me all these years, I got here because I never give up!" and like Miyavi I will never give up either.
We then took a picture together and when he put his arm around me I just about died. There my idol of so long, with his arm around me, taking a picture. Holy shit. And damn, my face is all happy derpy.
After we left I almost died from joy, I have never been so happy when it comes to music. Miyavi and his music provide so much hope and determination for my dreams. He is living proof that hard work can get you to where you want to be.
